Superintendent's Message

School District Budget(2008-09)

The Mabton School District Budgets consist of the General Fund, Capital Projects Fund, Debt Service Fund, ASB (Associated Student Body) Fund, and the Transportation Vehicle Fund.

The General Fund is financed from local, state, and federal resources.  These revenues are generally used for financing current, ordinary, normal, and recurring operations of the district, including such programs as instructional programs for students, food services, maintenance, data processing, and pupil transportation.

The graph below shows the budgeted expenditures of the Mabton School District for the fiscal year 2008-09 as approved by the Mabton School District Board of Directors on July 28, 2008.  These are projections for the current year, and they show the monetary value and the percentage of the total school district General Fund Budget.

Certified Salaries - Teachers, Specialists and Principals. These people hold a professional education certificate
Classified Salaries – Any person employed by the district that is not Certified. (Examples include but are not limited to: bus drivers, custodians, secretaries, cooks)
Employee Benefits – Expenditures that include but are not limited to: Payroll taxes, Social Security, Medicare, Retirement, and Health Care Benefits
Supplies – Supplies, instructional resources, and non-capitalized (less than $5,000) items.  Include but are not limited to: assessment tests, computer software, paper products, textbooks, workbooks, food, and meal preparation items
Contractual – Expenses for services and associated goods from independent contractors or service providers.  Include but are not limited to: accountants, attorneys, appraisers, architects, consultants, conference and workshop registrations, and election expenditures.
Travel – Expenses that include but are not limited to: airline, railroad, bus, taxi, lodging, and meal fees.
